In 1950, the North Texas Crime Commission was created to provide support for law enforcement officials in the downtown area. Now, nearly 50 years later, the Crime Commission has evolved from a Dallas-based program to one that includes the metroplex surrounding cities. The Commission has remained true to its original mission, but overall objectives have grown to include crime prevention, crime control programs and homeland security.
